Surgery Payments and Payment Methods

Surgery Payments and Fees at Coco Ruby Plastic Surgery – Melbourne, Australia

What is the cost of a Consultation with a Plastic Surgeon?

  • A Virtual or In-person consultation with a Coco Ruby Plastic Surgeon is $300
  • A Nose Consultation & Nasal Examination with Dr Stephen Kleid is $600 (and may be eligible for a $170 Medicare rebate)

As of the 1st July 2023 anyone consulting with a Plastic Surgeon will require a referral (from either a General Practitioner or Medical specialist). Having a referral can help you claim rebates from Medicare and your private health insurance if your surgery is covered by either.

How to secure your Surgery Date and pay for your Surgery

  • A deposit of $1000 is required to secure your surgery date.
  • Full payment for your surgery needs to be made at least 2 weeks prior to your scheduled surgery.

Payment methods

Various payment methods are available to patients for their surgical procedures prior to surgery using accepted payment options like credit cards (such as Visa and Mastercard), as well as buy now, pay-later solutions (like TLC).

  • Patients can establish non-commercial payment agreements with their healthcare provider, allowing them to make payments in installments.
  • If a surgical procedure is deemed medically necessary, patients may be eligible for Medicare rebates.
    • However, it’s important to note that these rebates won’t cover the entire cost and patients will still have out-of-pocket expenses.
  • Patients with appropriate private health insurance coverage may also be eligible for partial coverage of their surgical expenses.
    • Nevertheless, this coverage is unlikely to encompass the entire cost, and patients may still have out-of-pocket expenses.
  • TLC – Total Lifestyle Credit fund all Medical/Aesthetic costs and all affiliate fees
    • Payment plans from $2,000 to $50,000
    • Make any additional payments at anytime

It is crucial to emphasise that we do not endorse patients taking on debt or utilising their superannuation for cosmetic surgery payments. Furthermore, we do not provide or endorse financing options, such as loans or commercial payment plans to patients.

Terms & Conditions

  •  Speak to TLC direct for a quote based on your personal circumstances and for the full terms and conditions.
  •  A full credit and financial assessment would need to be completed prior to acceptance of any offer or product.

What To Look for When Comparing Surgery Costs For Cosmetic Procedures

Cosmetic surgery costs can vary for a number of reasons. While cost is a factor to take into account, it is crucial to prioritise a surgeon’s credentials and reputation to guarantee a safe and fulfilling result. Several elements contribute to the variations in cosmetic surgery pricing.

Is your surgery being performed in a fully accredited Private Hospital?

  • Most hospitals do not allow a General Practitioner (GP) or other non-FRACS (Fellow of The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons) Cosmetic Surgeons to operate in their theatre facilities, as opposed to a surgeon that typically has AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency) accreditation and recognition as a genuine Specialist Plastic, Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgeon.

What is included in the quote?

  • Asking for a detailed breakdown of your cosmetic surgery quote is crucial. Review the quote meticulously and be mindful of what items are included in the price, such as hospital fees, anesthesia, medications, follow-up appointments, scar treatments, and garments.
  • Beware of low-cost pricing advertisements for cosmetic surgery – you may end up with extra out of pocket costs you weren’t expecting.

Choosing a Surgeon

  • Ensuring you have selected a qualified surgeon is of the utmost importance. Look for a practitioner acknowledged by AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) as a Specialist Plastic Surgeon rather than merely a self-proclaimed ‘cosmetic doctor’ (such as a General Practitioner or Dermatologist).
    • There frequently exists a substantial disparity in the training and continual education received by Plastic Surgeons as opposed to other medical professionals entering the realm of cosmetic surgery.
  • Look for memberships such as ISAPS (International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery), ASAPS/ASPS (Australian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, FRACS (Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons) and RACS (Royal Australasian College of Surgeons) to be sure you are getting a Specialist Plastic Surgeon.
  • Do some research on your Plastic Surgeon, such as; how long has the surgeon been in practice for, is the procedure you are having an area they specialise in, read their Google reviews, word of mouth, hear what patients say or ask friends for recommendations.

Experience counts but it comes at a price – be sure you don’t let price or cost differences guide you into choosing a less qualified surgeon for your procedure. Consider the substantial contrast between twelve years of comprehensive medical and surgical training for a Plastic Surgeon compared to just one year of training for a cosmetic doctor.

Discover the experiences of patients who believed they had chosen a reputable surgeon but later faced issues after opting for discounted breast augmentation surgery in Sydney. This is a topic that patients discuss in the Four Corner’s Report on Outcomes from Low-cost Cosmetic Surgery (discounted specials).

It is important to remember that surgery always carries risks.

Why do Cosmetic Surgery Prices Differ?

Some factors that contribute to the differences in cosmetic surgery prices, include;

Procedure Complexity: The complexity of the surgical procedure is a key factor in determining the price. More intricate surgeries that require advanced techniques or longer operating times are typically a higher cost.

Surgeon’s Expertise: Plastic surgeons who possess extensive experience and specialised skills in a particular procedure may have higher pricing. Their qualifications, reputation, and level of expertise can impact the cost.

Anesthesia and Sedation: The type of anesthesia or sedation used during surgery can impact the price. General anesthesia, which involves an anesthetist, tends to be more costly compared to local anesthesia or IV sedation.

Pre – and Post-Operative Care: The total price may include costs for pre-operative consultations, laboratory tests, imaging, medications, and post-operative care, including follow-up appointments.

Facility and Operational Expenses: The expenses associated with operating a surgical facility, including staff salaries, rent, equipment, and supplies can have an impact on the overall cost of cosmetic surgery.

Additional Charges: Specific services such as surgical garments, compression garments, or specialized post-operative care may incur additional fees.
