Breast Surgery – Breast Augmentation procedures by Melbourne’s top Plastic Surgeons.
We have a variety of breast surgery options all performed by Specialist Plastic Surgeons who are genuinely qualified with FRACS and ISAPS, ASAPS or ASPS memberships. Remember, not all Surgeons who perform Breast Surgery are created equal and not all surgery quotes cover the same things.
Advertising can be deceptive. A so-called “cosmetic surgeon” is NOT a Specialist Plastic Surgeon unless they have FRACS and membership in their governing body (ASAPS, ASPS, ASPS-USA, ISAPS). A cosmetic surgeon could be just a GP who decided to perform breast surgery.
Want to discover the key difference between a Cosmetic Surgeon vs a Specialist Plastic Surgeon?
Questions to ask when you’re choosing your Surgeon for a cosmetic or plastic surgery procedure.
How much training do you need to become a breast surgeon? Sadly, the answer is that nearly any doctor can perform these surgeries under current laws, but NOT ALL DOCTORS who perform breast augmentation or breast reduction actually have extensive training.
A Plastic Surgeon, however, does. To qualify as a Specialist, they undertake about 14 years of training in Plastic, Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery (not just a weekend or year long course).
Choose your Surgeon wisely – read 7 Timely Tips for Avoiding a botched plastic surgery disaster.
We have numerous guides to help you have a good surgery experience as you move through your plastic cosmetic surgery journey from consultation through to recovery and follow-up appointments.
We also have special ways of treating your scars – read about Tummy Tuck Scars here.

Not all Surgeons are Specialists in Plastic, Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery.
Look for FRACS and other Plastic Surgery qualifications as well as the ability to have your surgery in a fully accredited, monitored Private Hospital. (Cosmetic Surgeons often can only operate in their clinic back rooms, not hospitals. Plastic Surgeons tend to have operating rights – ask your Surgeon why there’s a difference and why hospital insurance companies don’t tend to allow cosmetic surgeons to operate in hospital theatres.)
Is your Breast Surgeon ONLY offering a back room clinic operation for your breast augmentation or breast lift or reduction procedure? Chances are, they’re probably not a genuine Plastic Surgeon.
There are benefits to choosing a Plastic vs Cosmetic Surgeon. Be sure you know what they are.
Read the differences between Plastic Surgeons vs Cosmetic Surgeons or Cosmetic Doctors, and how they differ in training, education, qualifications, operating rights and more.
Our Surgeons focus on complex areas of breast, body, face and eyelid surgery. They are seasoned experts in getting natural looking, long lasting results and they are dedicated to patient education, informed consent and patient safety.
Some Surgeons who perform breast augmentation have intensive training in complex procedures such as asymmetry correction or tuberous breast surgery; others have specific techniques such as under-the-muscle or transaxillary-incision approaches. Most of all, some use quality implants and others try cheap options that may suffer from less longevity. (Remember, a breast implant is NOT a life time long device – the average life span of an implant is said to be 10 years although many women keep them for longer without any concerns). The key is to have regular visits with your Surgeon to follow up and to consider removal and replacement when you want to alter the size or shape.

Why is cosmetic breast surgery using implants so popular?
Breasts are one of a woman’s features that often defines her sense of femininity.
If you’ve always felt less confident, less sexy or less body-balanced due to out-of-proportion breasts or breasts that were too small, noticeably uneven or asymmetrical, or droopy, our Melbourne Breast Surgeons and Sydney Specialists can help.
There are many reasons why you may consider breast enhancement, reduction or breast and nipple reshaping surgery:
- Large breasts can be uncomfortable and limit physical activity
- Small breasts can have a negative emotional effect and can limit clothing choice
- Saggy breasts that have dropped can result in a feeling of loss of attractiveness
- Extreme asymmetry (mismatched or uneven breasts) can make it hard to find a well-fitting support bra
The option of breast surgery is available to help improve your breast appearance, size, shape, position, balance or symmetry. And in modern times, you’ll have more options to get the look you want – options about implants, incisions and size and texture choices too. Your Surgeon can help provide you with information so you can make the best decision for how you want YOUR breasts to look after healing from surgery.
Plastic Surgery for Better Breasts – Deciding About Your Best Options
Small breasts can be enhanced with a Breast Augmentation. Large, heavy breasts can be reshaped and uplifted with a Breast Reduction, Breasts that have sagged or dropped after breastfeeding or due to menopause are often suited to a breast profile-lifting known as a Breast Uplift (Mastopexy ‘breast lift’ surgery).
It all comes down to feeling comfortable within yourself.
